Travel To Folding Umbrella Market By Train With $2 budget: Amazing Thailand!

Dang dang dang! Sound from a train (yes, that’s what Thai train sounds like) is a sign of a journey travelers fall in love. Bangkok is great, but sometime getting out of Bangkok so you can see some green farms, local lives, and breath some fresh air are nice things to do for a weekend. Maybe a cool place like folding umbrella market in Maeklong?

This is not super convenient as you can take a mini-van from victory Monument to the market. But would it be nice to experience authentic locals who carry fresh lychees and well prepared traditional Thai sweets that willing to let you have a bite  for just smiling at them?

2$ transportation, are you kidding?!? Yes, we are kidding because it’s actually UNDER 2$. Traveling to Talad Rom-Hoob or  Folding Umbrella Market in Amphawa, Samut Songkhram province by train will be one of the best (and cheapest) local experiences you could ever have while traveling in Thailand. 

Starting from Wongwian Yai BTS station to Wongwian Yai market by walk (15 minutes). Tons of street foods for starting your local journey. The train station is right opposite of the market. The train ticket for Wongwian Yai to Mahachai costs 10 baht (30 cent) for foreigners and free for Thais.  There are 17 trains to Mahachai per day starting from 5.30 am to 8:00 pm

An hour later, you will get to Mahachai market where there are so many foods you can buy especially fresh and dried seafood. Go ahead and try many as you can eat. Just make you won’t miss the second train from  Baan Laem to Maeklong (8:05 am, 12:05 pm, 4:40 pm). But in order to get to the second train, you have to go to the pier to cross the river between 2 train stations. The river crossing boat costs 3 baht (around 10 cent). The total cost is 23 baht each way, so the whole trip will cost you 46 baht. Considered the way of local lives you will experience with $2 budget, we call this as a REAL DEAL trip!
